The transfer ban may have hit the Blues hard, but new manager Frank Lampard has taken his squad full of youngsters and turned it into something to be excited about. Without the ability to sign top stars this summer, players like Tammy Abraham and Mason Mount, who were already on the Chelsea books, but not being considered for the first team, have now flourished since being given the chance. Abraham, in particular, has been a revelation early in the season. A hat trick in a 5-2 win over Wolves over the weekend has catapulted the young Englishman to the top of the league’s Golden Boot race with an impressive seven goals in five matches. Doing it against Wolves is one thing. If he can continue his brilliant form against the leaders, that would be quite the message to send.

Napoli ruined Liverpool’s perfect start to the season by handing them a surprising 2-0 loss in the Champions League on Tuesday. With that disappointment fresh in their minds, Jurgen Klopp’s men must shift their focus to a tough away fixture in the league. Their five-point lead atop the table seems huge considering their unbelievably bad luck of coming up just shy of the title last season. However, a few bad results could see that lead slip away in no time. One thing the Reds have to be excited for is Chelsea’s inability to keep teams off the scoresheet. They’ve conceded 11 goals in their five league matches. The world-class attacking trident of Liverpool must be eagerly awaiting the chance to add to that total on Sunday.
